Hello Skydive Orange!!!!!!

I did my first jump 7/19/2008 and it was the single most incredible moment of my life, tied only to laying eyes on my beautiful boy for the first time, and still two totally different, yet unbelievable, emotions.....Anyway, I cannot thank you enough for such an indescribable experience.  I can't get Skydive Orange out of my head and I can't seem to remove the smile from my face.  I friggin' LOVE it!!!! I just want to be there doing it again and again.  I can't wait to come back (with some more first-timers because everyone needs to experience that!) and hang out with the most amazing people EVER.  How I envy being a part of the Skydive Orange family, you guys really are incredible.  In the mean time, I'm rockin' my bumper sticker back here in WV and just trying to get back to my everyday life.  I can't help but be distracted-will it ever cease???  It's in a good way----Thanks again for the life-changing AHA moment.  See you as soon as the moolah is saved.  Special thanks to Mike French and Peter (my video guy).  They made my experience unforgettable!!!!!!!

Nicki B-

Skydive Orange, thanks for the wonderful time on my tandem jump yesterday (12 Jul 08).  My friend Angelique was the prompt for me to come and jump along with her, and we both had the experience of a lifetime!  My tandem buddy Brent was superb.  He was super professional, made the instructions simple for me to understand, and made safety paramount.  He made sure I understood everything, and I knew with Brent I was in great hands.  Grayson was our photographer/videographer.  He was a real character and provided great service.  I thoroughly enjoyed the pictures and the DVD Grayson produced and I will cherish them forever.  I know you are proud to have these two experts on your staff.!

My wife Ija came along to watch (she had absolutely no interest in jumping prior to yesterday).  Now, she’s psyched to do it herself, so we will definitely be back soon!

Again, thanks for an extraordinary experience!  John Dupras, Stafford, VA.

I had my first jump ever yesterday and it was the best thing I have ever done.  Your staff is fantastic!  My instructor was Nick and cameraman was Elmo and both were awesome.  Thank you so much for making it everything I hoped for and more!!!!!!

Angelique Karle July 13, 2008

Again, you guys are awesome!

Kevin Reynolds is definitely a cool dude, Kevin Gibson is an awesome instructor. When I get back I'm game for finishing the program.

-Shannon 7/5/08

Hey guys! I just wanted to thank EVERYONE at SkyDive Orange for the incredible experience that I had yesterday, 06/13/08, during my first (but not last!) Tandem dive! Everyone was so friendly and helpful- Kevin was such a fantastic Instructor... Very funny, patient, knowledgeable and kind -- And Kai was an awesome videographer... He made sure to get some really great shots and put a lot of creativity into the editing, even allowing me to use my own songs!

Everyone has been asking me about my adventure but there aren't words to describe what I experienced. I could say that I was excited when I got there, that I was nervous boarding the plane, that I was anxious when we neared 13,000 feet, and that I was stoked the moment that we jumped from the plane ... And, in a way, all of that would be true- but none of it would be entirely accurate. Words just can't begin to tell the story. The pictures help ... And the video gets a bit closer ... But, even they fall short. I felt a connection between my heart, mind, body, and soul that i've never experienced before. And i canNOT wait to do it again!

Thanks so much for an amazing journey, that I'll never forget! I'll definitely be back soon!

Sincerly,
Jaime Thomas 06/13/08

Yes, you can DEFINITELY add my email to your Testimonial page - If anything I've said sparks the courage or interest in another person to try skydiving for the first time... Then that'd be like me "paying it forward." :)

Thanks again,
Jaime 06/15/08

Ned & Lambert - Thanks for today.  Although I didn't get to jump, I
enjoyed the experience and the group.  You know what they say, shit
happens and so does wind.  And, when it comes down to it, I'd rather be
safe than sorry or a statistic.  Anyway, I won't be able to make it
tomorrow (Sunday) but will be there bright and early on Wednesday.  In the
meantime, I will practice my procedures and be ready for the harness,
agian.  You guys run a class act operation and I look forward to spending
a lot more time with you.  Tell Steve hi.  See you on Wed.  Take care.  VR

Steve - Thanks for the jump today.  Sorry I didn't have time to hang
around for another couple of jumps.  Brian was a great coach, as was Jeb,
Hank and Lambert in weeks past.  Haven't run into ANYONE on the Orange
Staff that is not top notch, experienced & capable, helpful, professional
AND
friendly CLASS ACTs in absolutely  every sense.  All my experiences at
SKYDIVE ORANGE have made this
old moss-back feel comfortable, safe and welcome as I re-join THE Cool
Crowd.  Makes me wonder why I ever put myself in mothballs.  Look forward
to jumping with you guys as soon as I get back in country - look for me
around the 8th, 9th, and/or 10 of August.  Please give my best to Brian,
Jeb, Walt, Lambert, Ned, Mike and the entire staff. Take care, watch ur 6,

Martin Young writes-

Ned,
I'd like to schedule to jump this weekend.  I know Sat is safety day so do you think it would be better to come out Sunday for Category D training and jumps?  If so sign me up.
Thanks,
Martin

By the way I had a blast last Sunday.  It started slow but was able to get in 3 jumps.  Everyone is right, it just keeps getting better.

Ned:  I don't have a suggestion, but I just want to tell you how much I
enjoyed, and am continuing to enjoy, the tandem jump I made on August 10
this year.  If I were 50 instead of 90 I would seriously consider going the
course and become a real skydiver!   Happy New Year to you, Jane Donaghy.

I just wanted to say thank you so much for letting me film this past weekend. It worked out wonderfully and my first skydive was absolutely breathtaking and I had a wonderful time! Everyone was so nice and cooperative and Brent was a great instructor. Thanks again, you have no idea how much I appreciate it!

best,
Ayesha.

December 03, 2007

(We arranged for Ayesha to film from the airplane for a school project. We generally frown on skydiving students bringing cameras on the airplane since we don't want them distracted from skydiving.)

I was there skydiving for the first time ever on October 8th, and I had to write to tell you guys that it was AWESOME!!  I did a tandem jump with Tim, and he was excellent.  Elmo did video and pictures for me, and it was well worth the money!  The DVD is fantastic and very professional, and the pictures are very clear.

Also, I was there with a friend, Jason, who is an Army veteran who was shot while serving in the Middle East and has very little use of his left arm.  He hadn't been skydiving since his injury--he did a tandem jump with Mike.  Jason explained his injury to Mike, and Mike put him at ease and made the jump a great success for him.  Jason was estatic to be back in the sky again.

Thanks for your very knowledgeable, caring team.  It is obvious that everyone at Orange loves the sport of skydiving!  We will definitely be back!!

Sincerely,
Joy T.

Subject: A BIG thank you

Not enough words to tell you what a GREAT JOB skydiveorange did this past Sat., Aug. 25th., to make my 60th birthday the best one that I have ever had.  From Ned to the girl at the desk (didn't get her name) to Mike French to Brent and Steve, everyone was so very GOOD/NICE. Brent made me feel so confident and comfortable.  The jump was to die for, WRONG choice of words hee, hee.  I got to open the chute, steer, control the "stand up" landing (I saw where his hands were, thanks Brent).  A big, 2 thumbs up to Steve also.  Over 40 GREAT pictures and video that makes people go WOW when they see it.  And I had it all in about 15 min. after we came back to the hanger.
I will make sure that everyone that I know/care about will come to SKYDIVEORANGE  for their first jump.

John Cullinan aka "the guy with the BIG smile"

Elmo,
You did amazing job fliming me on my jump. Of course, I loved all those pictures. They were great and I wanted to thank you before I left but Bobby said you were up in the air :)  I've showed it to a lot of people and they keep saying it was a great dvd with the music. THANK YOU!!

Kevin,
You are amazing instructor for that class. You even made it fun and unforgetable experince. Like I said, I will be coming back. Just a matter of when but am thinking of one of those night jumps :)  Thank you for everything!!

Take care guys and be seeing you again,
John

I jumped with Mark W. on July 21. I just wanted a chance to say that he was a great instructor and really went over the information with me again before we jumped. He made my first jump very memorable. I was relaxed and comfortable with him. I wanted to thank him again.

He was very professional and I was curious if is a regular jumper at Sky Dive Orange and would I be able to request him in the future.

Hello!  I came to Skydive Orange on Saturday, May 26, 2007 for my first tandem jump.  It was fantastic…better than I ever thought it could be!  Everyone at Skydive Orange was really great.  Nick is a fantastic jump master…made me feel completely comfortable the entire time.  Thanks to Eric for a great video and pictures!

I definitely want to come back again!

Thanks!

Skydive Orange-
I came to Skydive Orange this past weekend, and was introduced to skydiving!!!  IT WAS AMAZING!!!!  I had Brent as my tandem instructor and Steve as my videographer!!  They were both FANTASTIC!!!!  I think they both had a great sense of humor, which made things much more enjoyable!!!  So much so that I think the video has been played more than anything else, for everyone I know (or so it seems), and even for others I don’t know.

Anyway, I decided I want to become a student, and experience the whole program.  I look forward to hearing back from you and getting scheduled to start!!!!!

 Have a great day!!

Everything went off without a hitch, it was a beautiful day for a jump and Mike really made it easy, being it was my first jump and all. Gigi went out of her way to burn me a copy of the raw footage so I would have it at my company meeting Saturday Morning. She was a great help! Hopefully, I can get a group to come out from my job, Koons Sterling Ford. Thanks for all of your help.

Hey guys and gals at Skydive Orange. Just wanted to tell you that I had the best time of my life, I think i'm hooked for life. I Want a send a thanks to Brent my instructor and Eric my photographer. It's the coolest thing i've ever done in my life. All the pictures and video turned out great. Its worth all the money in the world. The tandem jump was an awesome 22nd birthday present from my parents, I plan on coming back and jumping again.  Now all of my friends are telling me I'm crazy but they've never done it so to bad for them. I'll try and bring them along next time.  I recommend Skydive Orange to anyone thinking about jumping, you won't be disapointed.

I hope to see the whole Skydive Orange crew again. If I haven't said it before, it was the best time of my life. I'm still smiling thinking about it. Thanks again to Brent and Eric and everyone who made it happen, you guys ROCK.

You guys are awesome.  I feel like this is one of my biggest accomplishments in life.  My face literally hurts from smiling so much.  I'm still smiling and my co-workers think that I'm a freak! haha!

Subject: Awesome Adventure

Dear Skydive Orange ,

Thank you so much for the most incredible experience!  From the moment I saw  (my daughter) Emily Buckham’s video of her skydiving experience in July of this year, I knew I wanted to jump!  Thank you for making my first skydiving experience such a blast.  What a way to celebrate my 53rd birthday.  Nothing will ever top it!  We all had such a great time.   I know what I am giving my husband for his next birthday!  He did not want to go but by the end of the day was envious!  We will be back!

Thanks again :)

Debbie Buckham

I was part of the 'Adventure Group' who dove at your facility yesterday.
Just wanted to say thanks again.  Really enjoyed the experience.  The guy I
went tandem with was great. I feel like I could dive everyday for the rest
of my life! :)

Best,
Jenn

I wanted to send a big thank-you to everyone at Skydive Orange, but particularly Steve and Dennis, for a wonderful skydive experience.  I was there on August 17th to celebrate my 50th birthday.  It had not been a day that I was looking forward to, but thanks to Steve and Dennis, it turned out to be a spectacular day which will always make me feel forever young.  I just can't believe the high that jumping out of an airplane gives you.  I am still on a skydive high almost a month later.  And still grinning from ear to ear whenever I think about it.

Steve was a great tandem instructor--the perfect combination of calm and reassuring, wild and crazy, and good sense of humor!  Although that initial plunge out of the plane was a little scary, I felt completely safe with him.

And thanks to Dennis, I have a wonderful video and pictures so that I can relive that skydive high whenever I feel the need (which is daily while raising 3 boys).  He did a great job particularly with some of the close-up shots during the freefall as well as with the musical selections for the video (although my boys get completely grossed out when I walk around the house singing "skydive naked from an air-o-plane!").

I hope to get back there before too long for another skydive.  Thanks to Steve and Dennis for making my 50th painless (almost).

Kathy Soule

Mario did an outstanding job taking me out the door for my first jump and I have recommended him by name when I tell the story
about the jump (at least a dozen times).

Just wanted to let you know that my son (Tim) and I (Ed) had a great time Sunday for our first tandem dives. We were there for a number of hours before we were able to go up and it seemed that everyone was hard at work repacking chutes and getting everything ready for the next group. As the plane landed another group loaded and went up, it all seemed very smooth. My wife said we need to make it a yearly event but I would like to get to the point of going myself so therefore I may need to go more often. We are going on a long vacation but if I can swing it, I will try to do it again before the 30 days runs out. I don't think that my son thought I was cool enough to do it but we had a great day and thanks from the both of us.
Can you forward the next part to Shane and Dennis and Mario and Elmo....Shane, I want to thank you for giving me a very good dive on Sunday. I'm just upset that I got a little queasy but I think that was because I hadn't eaten or had anything to drink before going up and so I believe, because of the heat, I was dehydrated. I'm an adventurer and will do anything to experience to the fullest whatever I do. Pulling the ripcord was great but really wanted to do more turns and dives, maybe next time. Thinking of going bungy jumping this fall or next time they close the bridge over the new river. Anyway, I want to come over again soon and will try to get there before my 30 days are over and the price goes back up and I would like to have you as my instructor again if you don't mind. Thanks again.  Hey Dennis, thanks for going along with me and I really love the video and stills you took. We've looked at the video a number of times already and shown it to others also. You did a great job and when (?) I come over for an AFF, I want you to take the pictures. Thanks again.

Mario and Elmo, my son (Tim) sends his thanks for a great time and from the beginning he want you as his instructor, Mario. He got his wish and thought that you were really cool....Elmo, his video is outstanding and has shown it to his friends and they now want to do it. The only thing is that he didn't get his stills. Can you check and see if there was a roll of film laying around there somewhere? I hope that it can be found. He was so excited and loves the video. Thanks for going along with him and Mario and he said that he wanted you guys the next time. Keep safe and we may see you in the near future.

People just don't know what they are missing. I guess it's just the fact of jumping out of an airplane and relying on a chute to help you down.

Hello Ned.

This is Patricia Belcher, the legally blind woman who has jumped at
skydive orange twice.  I just wanted to let you know how deeply grateful
I am to you and Skydive Orange.  I jumped for the second time on June
5th, and the experience was just as totally awesome as the first one. I
was celebrating the anniversary of joining the Peace Corps back on June
5th of  1990, and I could think of no better way to do that than to go
skydiving. I cannot find enough positive things to say about instructor
Dan (my first jump) and instructor Nick who was my instructor on June
5th.  It takes a lot of patience and creativity to instruct someone with
vision as limited as mine, and both of them would deserve A+ grades.  My
two videos are awesome as well thanks to Tres and Dennis.  Ned, you do an
excellent job of  picking the people who work at Skydive Orange.

It is difficult for me to find the words to express how much joy
skydiving has brought to my life.  I came home from Sri Lanka in 1998,
having completed my second tour of duty with the Peace Corps, feeling
both the joy of achievement mixed with deep sadness.  Peace Corps had
decided that Sri Lanka was no longer safe, and I had been sent home
earlier than I had planned, as I had hoped to extend beyond the two year
tour.  My sadness was made more intense when my already poor vision
began to get even worse, and I began to experience grief that seemed to
have no answer.  Then I decided to fulfill another of my life ambitions
that was just as important to me as joining the Peace Corps had been.  I
came to Orange and went skydiving, and since then that deep sadness  has
vanished.  It was gone in a moment so profound that it will never leave
my memory.  With the pulling of a cord, and the uplifted feeling that
came with it, I found myself feeling as excited and joyful as that young
woman who had once joined the Peace Corps in 1990.  Back in 1990, I had
gotten on a plane and ventured to Micronesia, not really sure of what I
was getting myself into, and I wondered if that woman was still alive.
Last September she came back to life, and last June 5th I was able to
reaffirm that once again.  I have never had enough vision to play such
sports as tennis or soccer, but skydiving makes up for all of that.  My
only regret is that I waited twenty years before skydiving for the first
time, but that is all water under the bridge now.

Needless to say, I will be back very soon for another jump.  May God
bless the person who invented tandem skydiving!!!  Even though I can only
manage to jump once or twice a year, the sport of skydiving has brought
me such happiness that I find the financial cost to be well worth it.
Besides, instructor Nick gave me a wonderful excuse for  jumping sooner
rather than later.  If I can get back there before 2007, I won't have to
do that legal paperwork again.  Three cheers for that!!!  You will be
receiving my deposit very soon, and I am hoping to jump again on
September 11th.  I'll be in touch.

Ned, I would love it if you would put this on your testimonials page.
Keep up the great work.

With deepest gratitude,
Patricia

Hello Skydive Orange!
I had my first tandem jump on July 2nd and I am STILL talking about it and showing off my pictures and DVD!  I wanted to say thank you again for making it such a wonderful, easy, and memorable experience for me!  I had a really great time!  Paul was an excellent instructor and jump buddy.  Dennis Rucker did an absolutely AMAZING job on the DVD.  I could not have asked for a better experience.
Many thanks to your wonderful staff - everyone I encountered there was very friendly and welcoming.  I can't wait until my next jump!!

I have attached one of my favorite pictures - enjoy!

Dear Skydive Orange,

My buddy Sam and I just started skydiving (AFF) with you guys over the
past two weeks as we are living in C'ville for the summer.  We wanted
to say thanks to Ostrich, Kevin, Ned, Mike, Tres, Hank, Steve, and the
rest of the gang that worked us through our first couple jumps.  We'll
be back out there on Saturday weather permitting.  We're new to the
sport but at no time did we feel unsafe. We also had fun which is an
inherent to the sports nature (jumping out of airplanes).  You guys
have the best job ever and we're jealous. Skydiving is awesome.

Best,

Austin Ogilvie and Sam Clarke (San Francisco, CA and New Haven, CT)

I'm sure you've got to work out the best schedule for pilots/instructors, etc.   Let me know what's the best way to make weekdays work for you - how much notice you'd need, taking into account efficiency & weather variability.   I can be somewhat flexible for weekdays - I just generally have to be back in Woodbridge for work in the late afternoon.   Obviously, I'm new at this, so I'm trying to figure out the ropes.

On another note, I run my own business, so I know how tough it can be to put all the pieces together, especially when you're organizing such a varied group like you have, but I was fairly impressed with the effort everyone I had contact with put into our training and jumps.   Like anything else, there are rough spots, but bottom line - your staff came across as conscientious and capable.

thanks,
Steve Townsend

My fiance and I both jumped today, sat. 6/11/06 at skydive Orange. First off
you and your facilities are great. I have been to two other jump zones, and
she to one other and yours is by far the best. I really appreciate the fun
yet professional nature and attitude that everyone had. I jumped with Brent
(Bret?), and Sara with Steve and both were great.

We did our tandem jumps with them being towards the AFF program. We now want
to schedule ourselves into the program. We would like to have our first
class be on Sat. July 8. It is 27 days from today, so it is within the 30
day window, and beyond that we plan to be more frequent in our visits.
Please let me know if that will work.

Thanks so much for everything, and we look forward to getting started

Sincerely,
Ezra Willey

My daughter, Kim, went skydiving with a group of her UVA friends this past Sunday.  I want to thank you for giving her a thrilling experience.  Kim was diagnosed at age 6 with a rare childhood cancer and went through 2 recurrences, much chemo, radiation, surgery and a bone marrow transplant, for 3 ½ years.  Then at 12, she was diagnosed with lymphoma, with another 2 years of treatment.  She has been cancer free since then and is a second year at UVA.  She is tiny and somewhat frail, but her oncologist thought skydiving was a great idea!  I wasn’t with her, but have seen the pictures, and the look of pure joy on her face is priceless to me!  I sometimes didn’t think she would make it to this age, but I have to say thank you to all who made such a wonderful experience possible for her.  I must admit, it’s somewhat scary to see my little baby so far above the earth, but her happiness and exhilaration shine through the photos.  Thank you, thank you so much.

Ned- Just a note to let you know I had a great time on the jump. When my workload permits, I intend to continue with the sport and ultimately get certified. Having spent a major portion of my life learning, following and teaching procedures in order to survive in a very dangerous profession I would like to give you some feedback on the instruction I received.

I was very impressed with the whole program. Your instructors are extremely knowledgeable and diligent, and are genuinely concerned about the welfare of the students. They not only enjoy the work, but take great pride and responsibility for the content and quality of the instruction. Additionally, the procedures were  very consistent between all of the instructors (this is a real truth-teller for an exceptional course of instruction).  While at first the hangar activity seemed quite chaotic, I later came to the realization that there was method to the madness---and in fact everyone knew exactly what their responsibilities were and how their actions fit into the cerography. At the end of the day, I was confident that I could perform the jump quite well using the procedures I had been taught. The group I brought in for a Tandem jump also had a great time—especially since it was on my dime! But, all of them expressed a desire to jump again and I will try to make that happen for them.

Is it OK if I envy you your job? Please thank the whole crew for me and I will try to make it down there for another jump in a couple of weeks (a case of beer will accompany me if you will tell me what kind to bring).

Thank you Ostrich for an amazing experience. I hope you are aware of the wonderful gift you offer to others. If it was'nt for people like you , people like me would never get to experience  what  for me was a very spiritual and emotional  day. Thank you for sharing your talents. My video is fabulous (thank you Dennis!) I get a rush and  a shit eating grin everytime I watch it! Little did I know that while I was screaming my head off and grinning like an idiot you were making faces. You all are a great bunch of people and we will be back to party one evening!  Thanks again Lee Tristano

Due to some pressing things here at the office I haven't had time to write
this email.  I would like to thank you and your staff for making my son's
first parachute jump such a memorable experience for him.  I was impressed
with the staff's professionalism and the ability to put people's fears at
ease.  Greg has talked about nothing else since his first jump and talks of
getting certified. (First things first-I need to get him into college , then
he can start planning his sky dive certification:)).
Thank you again for making Greg's 18th birthday such a memorable
experience.

A special thanks to Kevin (Instructor) and Eric (Videographer) for making my tandem dive this past Saturday a memorable and wonderful experience. These guys were great and they helped make this a great day for me.  I was on a "natural high" for at least 8 hours afterwards.

Thanks again,

Just wanted to send a quick note for you to pass on to Jason and Dennis.  I did my first tandem jump Saturday afternoon, and it was simply awesome!  Jason gave us quite the freefall despite jumping from only about 7,000 feet. We also had time for some turns and a 360 under canopy.  I was reassured by Jason's confidence and unusual sense of humor ... it was an incredible experience!

And Dennis did an incredible job to be able to get some great shots, especially with the lower altitude and relatively shorter jump! I have pix in the plane, at the door, lots during the freefall from very close distance, when the 'chute was pulled, and when we landed.  I didn't always see where Dennis was, but it was clear he knew where we were at all times.

You should be proud of both of them.  It's obvious they love what they do, but they also do it incredibly well!  Thanks again for a safe, fun and memorable skydiving experience!

I just wanted to tell you that I had a great experience skydiving on Sunday.  My instructor was Mike French and I think my videographer was Dave.  They were both great and I felt completely comfortable.  It was really amazing and I think I may have inspired a few more people to give it a try.

I am guessing someone has informed you that The Valley Banner did run the story on Vern Michael and his family skydiving.  We all were apart of the original group that came on Father's Day but had to reschedule due to the cloud coverage.  It was the June 30 issue.

Thanks again for a wonderful experience!  Thank Mike for me again, too!

Sincerely, Susan Keck

Subject: Last Sunday...

Was AMAZING!

Just wanted to send a big Thank You out to everyone who was working on Sunday. I’ve been raving about my experience and have a number of people looking into paying a visit to your fine establishment as well. I cannot give enough positive feedback.

Thanks so much to Paul Taylor & John Elmore, in particular.

Sorry I couldn’t stay longer, but the family & friend units were near cardiac arrest…

Thanks Again!!! J

To our new friends at Skydive Orange:

On May 18, 2005 my brother Jake and I had one of the greatest days we can remember!!!  We wanted to send a special thanks to the people who made this adventure a day that will last in our memories forever.  My first jump with Paul was an absolute blast....little did I know that a 2nd jump due to a video snafoo would follow shortly thereafter.  Although I thought the thrill and enjoyment of the 1st jump couldn't be beat, I was pleasantly surprised to find the 2nd jump to be a more amazing experience than the first....Is this how it works?  The jumps just get more & more exciting...and if that is the case, you may be seeing more of me at Skydive Orange.  Mike French, I owe you a HUGE THANK YOU for making this day so great.  Jake not only loved his jump with Jason but he said one of the greatest adventures of the day was riding in the cockpit while I made my 2nd jump.  He said the plane ride down (once everyone had jumped) was an absolute blast.  A special thanks to Gigi and Tres who both made extremely unique and high quality videos which have allowed us to relive the experience all over again!  Oh, and we got a laugh at home watching our tandem instructors be comedians behind our backs only minutes before the jump! (manuals make for better reading when they are right-side-up!)
We would absolutely encourage anyone who is thinking about skydiving to head on down to Skydive Orange for the time of their lives!!!  You all are great!!!  You love what you do and it shows!
Thanks to all,
Melissa Emerson & Jake Purcell

My name is Claudia and I jumped this Saturday as part of the huge JMU group. First off, thanks so much for dealing so well with all of us. I know we must have been very overwhelming but you guys did an amazing job and I know that we all had the time of our lives.

Secondly I had a quick question...I ordered a video with my jump and I did have a videographer with me when I went but I just wanted to check back and make sure all that was underway and being taken care of.  Travis did my video, Paul was my tandem master and I jumped off plane 12 if that helps any thing at all.

And finally, and this is such a long shot, I had so much fun that I want to come back. I'm actually going to try and get up the funds enough to get a license and really jump, but while I do so I really want to stay in the environment.  While I was looking around the website there was a part that said you guys are looking for packers. Of course Ive never packed a chute before so I didnt know if that was for only experienced divers or anybody. If it is for whoever I would love to look into spending weekends up there packing for yall and enjoying myself. Just a thought...it may not even be a realistic one.

But thats it, I just wanted to check up on my video and see about packing...thanks again for letting us all come out!!
--Claudia

feel free to use my email in the testimonials, ill say even
better things if it helps you out, i could brag on you guys
for days!!

enjoy your day!!

I just wanted to send along my praise and gratitude to you and your staff at Orange Skydive. We had an amazing day with you on Sunday -- one that will remain in our memories for many years.

I jumped with Kate’s group in the last dive of the day. As you may know, Kate was diagnosed with leukemia on September 5, 2003. She was quickly rushed to the hospital and told that she needed to start treatment right away. The news kept getting worse which led to Kate’s transfer to Johns Hopkins Hospital a few days later. Luckily, Kate responded very well to high-dose chemotherapy and officially went into remission on September 19, 2003. She continued to receive treatment until March 2004. Those six months were filled with many alarming, horrifying and frustrating moments. But Kate has diligently worked hard the past six months to reclaim her life after cancer.

Kate wants to mark her remission anniversary each year with something special. This is what led our group to Orange Skydive. Sunday was a very special day for all of us. But we really had no idea how special it would become thanks to Lambert, Bob, Tony, Dennis and Tres.

I’d like to especially acknowledge Lambert. He was an excellent instructor and made sure that we were not only well informed about our diving experience but also gave us the assurance that our experience would be safe and fun.

And safe and fun it was. After several hours of weather (cloud cover) delays, Lambert rallied other instructors and video/photographers to make sure that our group got on the last plane and was able to stay together. I was lucky enough to be paired with Lambert. He talked me through every step of the process and made me feel like I was in very good hands. He even took the extra time to make sure that I had a soft landing since I’m running a marathon at the end of the month. If it wasn’t for Lambert’s leadership and care, my group wouldn’t have had as wonderful an experience as we did. In fact, we may have not gotten to have the experience at all on Sunday.

It was so amazing for me to see Kate’s huge smile return on her face on Sunday. As you can imagine, this has been an insane year for her. But her jump allowed her to celebrate her remission and make a fresh start for another cancer-free year. Plus, I think she’ll turn into a future dive addict.

I hold you and your instructors in the highest regard. You have a remarkable staff that knows exactly how to work hard and play hard – a motto I try to live by everyday. Thank you again for an amazing day!

Warm regards,
Janice Cori

Hey gang,

Many thanks go out to your excellent staff for making my, and my daughter's first jump (tandem), an exciting and very safe adventure.

She jumped with Paul T. and I jumped with "Ostridge".  I was impressed with both the professionalism and knowledge both of these fine men showed in preparing for and including our first jump.  You can bet this won't be the last time we jump at Skydive Orange.

Thank you, so much!  Everything and everyone was great.
Amy was as efficient as she could be with a crowd that large, she'd pretend to be tough at times with some people but everyone learned shortly she was a sweetheart.
The girl/lady packing the chutes, Gigi maybe, was great talking with us about her work and how she enjoyed the job, the people she worked with and the people she came in contact with.
Mike, my jump master, was kinda' quiet to start with but I was very confident with his abilities and after our jump told me everything that was possible in my future in skydiving.
Dennis, video and still photographer, was the best: personality and ability.  I couldn't believe the position he must have gotten into to get the pictures.
And even tho' I saw you many times that day, we didn't speak because you are the busiest person I've ever seen.
It took a lot longer that day than I expected but I was glad to see business for you is going well.
Thanks a million

I want to send this email out to everyone involved at Sky Dive Orange who
made my first jump on Sunday, a most memorable one.  From Amy (won't hold the
accounting mistake against ya!!!  Just kidding), to Mike, to Shane my Jump
Master- Dude you Rock!  I'm only hoping though that the kind of day we had
waiting isn't the norm for us Newbee's.  I guess you Mother Nature has a
mind of her own when it comes to teazing first time jumpers.  Hey, the club
is great, people are great and for that and the factor of the jump itself,
will bring me back for more jumps.  I'm spreading the word around work about
you all and I have someone already that is coming with me to jump.  My
question would be if I were to get a group of people to come, how many would
it require for me to jump for free?  Would we get some type of discount?
Just trying to get an idea so I can try to put something together.   THANK
YOU
AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wanted to thank SOI and Event Horizon for sponsoring and putting together
the RW skills camp the weekend of May 8th-9th 2004.  I had a great time and
learned a lot that weekend.

I was particularly impressed with how the coaches were able to deal with a
variety of skill levels - one participant had an  A license with 23 jumps
and had not jumped for over a year and another participant had over 1,000
jumps and was using this as a review to brush up on his skills.  The camp
started off with a review of basic skills/body positions.  Reviewing the
basics was particularly good for a few of us (me included) to correct some
things that we had either forgotten about or had been doing wrong for
awhile.  As a result of the camp, the participants know how to plan a RW
skydive - specifically we learned some basic exits, formations, how to get
back together after we screw it all up, and how to get away from each other
to safely deploy.  We also know how to debrief and plan for the next
skydive.  In addition, the coaches did a great job getting us up in the air
and providing really useful feedback and guidance on what we need to
practice to be better skydivers.

I think one of the obvious measures of success is that there is a pretty
good size group of new jumpers that now know how to organize an RW jump and
are actually doing it.  The last couple of weekends at the DZ our little
group of newbee A license holders has jumped several times together.  We
still have lots to work on - but we are safely having fun and continuing to
learn and improve.

>From my perspective the camp was a huge success.  It has given me some
structure and guidance on things that I can work on and has made me into a
more frequent jumper (don't laugh at that one!) because now I have a
built-in group to skydive with and things that I can work on during each
skydive.  Hopefully Event Horizon will do another skills camp like this
sometime soon!  I would definitely participate!
Thanks-
Ingrid

Last Saturday, 1 May 2004, my son, daughter-in-law and I had the pleasure of
doing a tandem jump to celebrate my 60th birthday at Skydive Orange.  My
initial reaction when reaching the hangar was, "Do I really want to do this?
These folks look too laid back to be trying to convince me that it was safe
to put my son and daughter-in-law, and me, in their trust".

However, my reaction changed as the training progressed.  Shane McGroarty
did an outstanding job of taking us through the ground training.  A very
strong emphasis on safety, with the right amount of humor, helped dissipate
any fear that we had. Our tandem instructors; Shane with my daughter-in-law,
Melissa; Nick with my son, Iain; and Jason with me, were all outstanding.
Every single step was repeated to make sure we understood that we were safe
and each step of the jump from moving to the door to landing was explained
so that we'd know exactly what was happening and what to expect.

We had a great time.  Unfortunately it went too fast, so I expect we'll do
it again so that it can sink in.  Shane was right, he said that the brain
can go into overload.  There's so many fun parts  to absorb on the way down
and I found that I was afraid that I'd miss one of them.  I did, thus my
need to do it again.

To all of you; thank you for giving me something wonderful to celebrate on
my birthday.  You certainly made a marvelous day unforgettable.

Shane, Jason and Nick, thanks again! I look forward to doing this again with
you.

P.S. My apologies to Jason for me having him take the slow route down. I
know he wanted to go a wee bit faster, but being a Scotsman I want to get
the most hang-time for my bucks.

I forgot to mention Dennis, the photographer. The video was
terrific.

To the fabulous staff at Skydive Orange,

Thank you for everything!

On Saturday, April 24, 2004, I came to Orange with a gleam in my eye and an
uneducated guess about how it feels to jump out of a plane.  I left with a
permanent smile, an awesome video, fabulous photos, and longing to return to
Orange.

Thank you Rhonda for processing my paper work - thanks to Jake Davis for
training our group - and thank you Dennis for giving me an interesting video
and professional photos.  A special thanks to Paul Taylor - my tandem jumper
man - he made me feel safe and comfortable.  It was an phenomenal experience
that I will never forget.

Dear Skydive Orange Staff,
I made my first jump yesterday (Sun. 3/28) and I'm afraid I'm in trouble. I can't think about anything else. I don't WANT to think about anything else. I've always been up for adventurous stuff and I've felt adrenaline before, but nothing like this.......this wide-open, mind-blowing full-throttle adrenaline RUSH!!! I trained Saturday for AFF......couldn't go, clouds.......came back Sunday and it was beautiful but gusty.......opted to do CAT-A tandem and now I'm glad it worked out that way.  I felt pretty ready after training, but  it's impossible to imagine what it's actually like up there and it was good to have someone with me. (THANK YOU LAMBERT).
I want to thank EVERYONE at Skydive Orange, everyone was very helpful and what a great atmosphere......I didn't get everyone's names but thanks to the girls in the office, wow it gets busy when the clouds break and you were awesome with that clipboard AND thanks for holding my rings and REMINDING ME to take them back from you when I was too high to remember it myself! Thanks OSTRICH for perking up the AFF class when we were all feeling a little overwhelmed. Thanks MIKE for the awesome video and the good advice about driving home! Thanks to all the other people who worked with me and the other AFF students, I know I'll be back and it's thanks to all of your efforts and enthusiasm.
See ya soon,
Bart

I did my first tandem jump with Shane this past weekend and have not been able
to wipe the smile off my face ever since!  What an amazing experience!  You have
a wonderful operation going at Skydive Orange and between the people and the
setting - I could not have asked for a better experience.  One of things that
really struck me (even before I jumped) was how happy and friendly everyone was
at Skydive Orange.   In addition, Shane was a fabulous tandem instructor and
helped me relax and have fun.  He was the perfect blend of seriousness and
professionalism when it came to safety and instruction - and then knew how to
joke around and help me relax, have fun, and get the most out of my first jump.
I have tried to explain to people just how awesome an experience it was but I
don't think my words really do justice to it.  However - I have been told that
my excitement and my permanent plastered on smile help others to understand just
how great it was.

Before I work up my fear again I was thinking about trying to do a non-tandem
AFF jump sometime soon (maybe this Sunday or or the following weekend).  I am
not sure if I need to start over and do the category A jump first or what I need
to do since my first jump was a tandem.  I can't wait to feel the thrill of
jumping again and the peace of the ride down (however the landing still makes me
a little nervous).  Anyway - I wanted to check in to see what kind of
availability you had in the next couple of weeks.

Thanks again for an amazing experience and I look forward to hearing from you
about scheduling another jump!

I did a tandem skydive yesterday and just wanted to let you know, that I had

The Professionals of Orange,

Just wanted to drop you note of thanks for the tandem jump I made with Mike French this past Saturday.  The experience is something that will remain vivid for many years to come, more than likely a lot longer.  From the moment I checked in at the student desk until the moment I left I felt completely welcome and very much at ease, even with the crowd and fever of activity with the Orange Boogie.  Considering this was my first jump I thought I would be very nervous.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  Even my family and friends who were present felt welcome among the other jumpers.

As I recall Mike Perry gave us our ground instruction that was very thorough, well paced, and logical.  Later I was introduced to Mike French, my tandem instructor, who put me totally at ease as we prepared for the jump, and throughout the entire jump.  From entry into the aircraft until was on the ground Mike explained every detail and a variety of what ifs.  The jump was one of the single greatest thrills of my life.

I did not give much thought to pursuing skydiving after that day until I got home and watched the video (a top notch job and well worth it!), when I realized that this is a sport I could love and pursue.  Given that, it will not be long before I return to Orange to complete my ground school and complete my next jump.   Hope to see you all again!!!

Thanks again to Mike French and Mike Perry.

 Regards,

 Chris Schreiner

---  I believe I “owe” two cases of beverage on my next return (within the confines of the FAA rules on the matter):  1 for my first jump, and 1 for my first jump from the Otter.  A small price to pay for the great memory and atmosphere you all provided.

Hello,

My name is Bob Hoeft and I jumped for the first time this past Saturday.
I just wanted to send you all a note to tell you that I had a great time.  I
was really impressed with what a friendly and relaxed environment you guys
have, but at the same time people are very professional and knowledgeable.

I especially want to thank Lambert and Rahlmo, who were my instructors for
my AFF dive.  They really helped me out - especially when I got some last
second jitters at the door of the plane (that first step is a doozy!).

Anyway, my wife and I have settled on an agreement where I can plan to
jump one day every 3 weeks or so.  I intend to continue taking the AFF
classes so that I can eventually get my license.

Thanks again and see you in 3 weeks or so!

- Bob

My name is Loretta (Lori) Shaw, and I just wanted to write you all a note and thank you for such a wonderful first experience in skydiving.

Donny Boss and I made our first jumps at Orange on May 3, 2003. It was a very long, cold day, but we got to jump around 5:30pm at 11,000 feet when the clouds lifted some. We loved it so much...

Anyway, I want to personally thank Shane (my tandem guy) and Dan W. (my camera guy) and Lambert (Donny's tandem guy) and Bobby P. (Donny's camera guy) VERY MUCH for making our first jump exciting and very memorable. We watch the tapes over and over and show them to all our friends weather they want to see them or not :)

It was a long day that day we jumped and we were the last tandems, but those guys were still upbeat and very pleasant and professional even though they were probably tired. So, please keep up the great atmosphere and great personalities!

Donny is planning on doing an AFF jump maybe in this fall or next spring. We will come to Skydive Orange for sure!

Thanks again!

Hey Ned!! I just wanted to take a minute to write & thank you for the GREAT day of fun & excitement you and your entire staff gave me last Sunday!! WOW---it was F$#&*!G AWESOME!!! I did a tandem jump with Lambert while Elmo filmed the whole thing. The jump with Lambert was INCREDIBLE, & Elmo is a regular Spielberg the way he edited & produced the video....it gets better each time I watch it!! I also found them both to be TRUE professionals with GREAT senses of humor who made me feel very comfortable on my first ever jump. It was something I've wanted to do for a long time, but for one reason or another never made the time for. Having done it, & sharing the pictures & video with family & friends, some asked me if I felt "different" or "changed" in any way. I guess it didn't really hit me until the next day, what with the excitement of the jump & all that day, but I would have to say yes, it definitely did!! My only regret is...I wish I would have done it SOONER!! I know you guys do this day in & day out, & perhaps like anything you do over & over it may at times become routine or boring. That's why I'm writing this e-mail--to let you know what an AMAZING thing it is that you all do and on top of that, make look so easy!! I hope to see you all again in the near future--maybe in Skydive University!! Thanks again for a GREAT day & experience!!

P.S. One question. What's the story behind the 3 finger "gang sign" I see in the web site pics? Just curious.

All the other signs were taken. SOI registered it several years ago year
when some gang in L.A. forgot to renew. SOI still leases limited rights to
Snoop Dogg, though.

 hey there
first of all, I would like to tell you that you made my 1st skydiving experience a blast and gave me a video that is awesome!! I love it!! thank you very much!!
I was out at the Orange skydiving place a few weeks ago with my husband and kids....don't know if you remember or not....but anyway.......thank you very much!!

second.......the video you made was great and I was wondering if you do any other kind of work like that besides with your videos from skydiving? I have always wanted to make my parents a video from a bunch of photos of their life together...their marriage, special events, pictures of me and my brother as babies, our marriages, our kids, etc.. and have it all run together and have music playing just like the skydiving video but have never found anyone that can do that..........can you do that with still photos, or would it have to be video? if you do anything like that, how much would it cost and what would I need to give you?
will you let me know when you get a chance?
thanks again!

Quite a keepsake. I am anjoying Stuttgart and Munich and I have business in Naples and Rome next week. I hope to make another jump when I get back. Hey,
I brought my dad Dave to skydive for his 50 b-day and the day was totally
awesome! We both did a tandem jump and had a great time. I had a video made
of both of our jumps, Dan did my video. This guy is truly unreal, I have seen
several video of various friends and other people I have come into contact
with, their videos were OK and some were good but the way Dan did mine with
the editing and professionalism was truly remarkable! I had his website but I
am unable to get on, could you please respond with an email address or
website or phone number so I can talk to him about future video on a more
grand scale. I am looking forward to my next jump, hopefully this Saturday, I
would need to do my 2nd tandem. Can I just show up to do that or do I need to
make a reservation? Would the wait be the same if I was by myself? Please let
me know how to get in contact with Dan, you guys have a great asset in him, I
wish the guys who worked for me had 25% of his pride in what he does. Thanks
again for a great day, see you soon.

What a GREAT way to break up the work week!

I wanted to thank you for calling me and letting me know about the
mid-week AFF jump.  I didn't get your voice message till I woke up this
morning and checked the machine... So I'm glad you tried me again.

LT (not sure what his real name is) and I had a great time, and
T-squared and Christoff were great as usual!  I'm really impressed by
T-squared's teaching style.  She must have been a trainer in some other
industry or teacher as well?

I got my 1st class C jump in, but the clouds moved in and Christoff and
I ended up with an uneventful plane ride...

Thanks again for making my week,

Hope to be back at SkydiveOrange soon.

were excellent and did everything to keep things
smooth, calm and fun.  I was with Rich W and Bobby and
cannot begin to tell you how great they were on my
turn.  Please extend our thanks to them.  We will
definitely be back for more.  You guys truly throw out
a wonderful party!!

fun DZ. I hope to be back up there in the near future and hope that the fun
will continue.  Please put me down on your dz e-mail list and if there is a
way I can become a club member let me know.  Again thanks everyone and hope
to see you soon.

Hello, Skydive Orange!    I cannot thank the club, Lindsay, Waldo and Bobby
enough for making my tandem jump the most thrilling adventure of my life (so
far)!    Right away I felt really good about how serious everyone at Skydive
Orange takes their sport, and the attention to detail that goes into every
aspect of the tandem dive.   Waldo was the perfect Jumpmaster - fun and
laidback, and obviously loving every minute of what he does, but serious
enough to make a novice feel safe going along for the ride.   And what a
ride!   The video Bobby shot and recorded exceeded all hopes and
expectations.   His whole crazy persona helped calm my nerves, and his comic
touches on the video are outstanding!

I was so floored by the entire experience, I was practically speechless for
at least 3 hours!   Just wanted to express my appreciation and thanks to you
all.   I hope to be seeing you again!

Sincerely,

Dear Skydive Orange and Crew,

I wanted to thank you for the wonderful experience you gave me with your company. It was my first time in an airplane, and you helped me jump out of it! And, you made the experience more incredible than I could ever have imagined. You have a wonderful staff! My tandem instructor, Waldo "Tigger", was incredible! He's a great, fun-loving guy, and I feel my jump wouldn't have been nearly as much fun without him! Please forward this e-mail to him to let him know how much I appreciated him. (I guess if he doesn't have e-mail, just please let him know) Also thank Bobby for the wonderful video he made. He did a great job!

Again, thank you SO much, and please let Waldo know how much I appreciated him.
Sincerely,
Deborah Whetzel

I wanted to share with you my experience Saturday at Sky Dive Orange.  You have a GREAT team over there.  The trainers were very professional, caring, and were very humorous.  Even in the plane I was cracking up at Waldo and Dan.   Waldo made me feel special and not just another idiot customer going to screw something up, even though I probably made it harder than normal for him.  The stills and video was breath taking.  Dan is a great photographer!

When I waited for my plane to be called I just watched everyone.  You all seem to be a happy family there.  Keep up the great work!

 Sincerely,

 Tracy Scott

Other things folks have said about us:

____________
"I feel a lot more like I do now that I did before I made that jump!"

____________
"I had more fun here on a regular day at Orange than I've had at most of the Boogies I went to"

____________
From a fine young lady:
"I think I wet my pants and it's not pee! Hee Hee Hee"

____________
After a first Tandem Skydive:
"WOW! I haven't felt like this since I learned to masturbate!"

All right, you've seen the good. Nuff said. But it's not like we haven't got our complainers too, like this little controversy brought to light by one of our riggers... And he seems like such a nice guy, too, I'd have thought he'd be more of a team player.

*Who really enjoyed their Skydive Orange experience, that is- I didn't mean to imply that we were going to tell you anything really personal about our relationships. Oops- did I use the R word? Now I feel really embarrassed. This is starting to sound like a really bad soap opera or something. I mean, I remember when my mom used to watch " As the World Turns", years ago with Dr. Hughes and Mr. Sandler and all that. That show was all about "relationships" whatever the hell that meant. This page is just about skydiving, not mushy nonsense like that.

Anyway, I hope you found this testicalmonial page informative.
