experienced jumpers enjoy skydiving as a sport

Load Organizers at Skydive Orange

Sunday, December 30, 2018

You’ve done it. You made it. You have your skydiving A License. Awesome. But, uh…

Now what?

Before, there was clear direction—learn certain skills, demonstrate aptitude, get that precious A card signed off, and log 25 jumps. Now that you’ve succeeded, things don’t seem so clear. Do you just sit on the sidelines watching other people jump (very unlikely) or do solos (not very much fun)? It’s likely you’re looking for a little bit of direction now that you’ve graduated to licensed skydiver status. Here is where Load Organizers come in!

What is a Load Organizer?

Simply put, Load Organizers are experienced skydivers who help gather together jumpers of similar skill levels, plan fun, creative skydives for them, and join them on the jump.

Before you begin fretting because you’re not looking to be critiqued, you need to know one thing: Load Organizers aren’t here to judge. All skydivers had to start somewhere, and we’ve all been where you are! No matter your jump numbers, our LO’s want to work with you.

What’s the difference between a Load Organizer and a Coach?

A skydiving coach typically works with you one-one-one to improve your skydiving skills. Typically, after landing from a coach jump, you will receive a thorough, personal de-brief of the skydive. Coach jumps come in handy when there are particular skills you are looking to develop in a close one-on-one environment.

A Load Organizer focuses on putting together a fun, engaging skydive for a group of jumpers who are around the same skill level. Instead of one-on-one, you may be in a group of three, four, or even more! Load Organizers determine group size based upon the skill level of the members involved, so you won’t end up in a group that is too large for your skill or your comfort level. Though it’s not one-on-one, often, your Load Organizer will gladly film the skydive and, if time permits, will be more than happy to de-brief the jumps with you!

Why should I jump with an LO?

Aside from being great fun, jumping regularly with Load Organizers is a great way for you to develop your skills and become a better skydiver. It is also a great way to be introduced to other jumpers and to begin to make connections around the drop zone! Don’t sit on the sidelines wasting your time, make a skydive with a Load Organizer.

Okay, so, what’s the catch? How much is this going to cost me?

Well, as if the aforementioned weren’t reason enough to join the fun and jump, did we mention it doesn’t cost a thing to work with a Load Organizer? Really, it’s free. As per usual, you just cover your slot, nothing else. There’s no additional cost involved!

So, what now?

All this sounds well and good, but how can you make it actually happen? Well, DON’T BE SHY. Just take a deep breath, walk up to the organizer in your discipline, and say hi! Introduce yourself, tell the organizer your skill level and your experience, and let the Load Organizer know what you would like to learn. Voila you’ve opened the door to some downright fabulous fun fitting right in on an organized load.

What are you waiting for?

From novice to ninja, there’s an LO for everyone. Nearly every weekend in the spring, summer, and fall, you can find RW and Freefly Load Organizers milling around Skydive Orange.  All that’s missing is you!
